Conservation to the nation
The British Conservation Trust Volunteers has 7 training schemes and a couple of hands-on volunteering opportunities coming up in October, right at the start of the academic year, and they are always very popular with the hundreds of students registered here with Provide.
Additionally, for more interaction around the Olympic park, Lee Valley Regional Authority has relaunched over twenty of its most popular opportunities for us here at Provide, and it’s a great chance to get heavily involved in the elements of teaching, educating and conserving the delicate ecosystems around one of the most industrialised areas of the city.
And amongst all that, in the dog days of August, Thames 21 and the Waterway Champions remains dedicated to cleaning up the various local canals, ponds and streams as well as running training programmes so you, the students, can lead your own projects in future.
Though it’s not long until the summer ends and term begins, there will be plenty of CADs to get your teeth stuck into throughout the first semester, so this is a chance to do something a little further afield (or apark, aforest or ameadow!) whilst benefiting a region which extends way beyond the normal boundaries of Tower Hamlets, and even perhaps somewhere closer to your home.
If you’ve not already registered your interest for volunteering at the Olympics, then there’s still time to get your entry in at: http://www.london2012.com/get-involved/volunteer/volunteering-landing.php
