Provide Volunteering in Metro Newspaper

On Wednesday 19th June, in the middle of the exam period, Thames 21 and Waterway Champions came by Regent's Canal to help clean it up ready for the summer, ensuring the ducks, waterlife and those who wish to enjoy the scenery would be able to do so in relatively sanitary conditions (for the canal, at least!)

Alongside the usual rabble were a couple of journalists from the Metro newspaper, writing an article about volunteering week, and Provide's own Michael Jones. After pulling a motorcycle, an iron grate and a road sign out of the canal, as well as numerous other perculiar artefacts, the article has just appeared in the paper with a picture of the men and women hard at work.

Once again it reiterates how important for all aspects of life volunteering is, ranging from the social impact on communities to the large-scale economic impact on reducing many of the costs of cleaning and caring which can subsequently be reinvested in other projects.
