What YOU can expect from us:
Skills
A fulfilling, enjoyable and quality volunteering experience where you will develop self-confidence and learn new skills
Safe
We will ensure you are volunteering in a safe environment.
Supervision
Appropriate supervision will be provided when you are on a project.
Support
And guidance will be provided should you have any issues or problems.
Kit
Appropriate training and equipment will be provided.
Free
You can claim out-of-pocket expenses upon production of receipts.
Insurance
You will be insured whilst you are volunteering.
Equality
No volunteer will be excluded on the grounds of race, colour, ethnic or national origin, religious belief, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, age or disability - an open access policy will be actively encouraged.
Knowledge
You have the right to know what is expected of you as a volunteer.
To say no
You can say no to any tasks you don't feel comfortable with, and you will never be expected to volunteer more time than you feel able to. Also, we will take into consideration your academic commitments.
Change
Be able to withdraw from volunteering or change projects with reasonable notice
Recognition
You will receive recognition for the volunteering efforts you make.
Informed
We will inform you of any legal and safety issues, especially those relevant to your project.
Voice
You can make a difference - if you don't like the way things are run, you will have the opportunity to help change it. The Provide Volunteering Board steers the volunteering direction that Provide takes, so get involved!
Grievance
Should you ever be unhappy with a staff member, a co-ordinator or another volunteer, grievance procedures are in place. These may be discussed with your project co-ordinator or a member of staff who will help you. Similarly, if you are considered to be inappropriate for a particular scheme or activity for any reason, you will be told.
Confidentiality
Your personal details will be treated as strictly confidential in line with our data protection legislation and confidentiality statement.
Empowerment
We aim to empower our volunteers by offering the opportunity not just to get involved, but to organise and run student-led projects of their own.
Feedback
You have the right to give and receive feedback on any aspect of your volunteering and Provide will strive to improve the volunteering service along these lines.
FUN!
You have the absolute right to have fun, fun and more fun!
What we expect of YOU:
Training
We expect you to attend appropriate training sessions and meetings, and to assist us in arranging suitable times.
Dedication
And honesty - please do things that you have said you will or give substantial notice if you cannot attend. If you wish to withdraw from a project, please talk to the Volunteer Coordinator first.
Support
Inform the Volunteer Coordinator if you are experiencing any difficulties with your voluntary work or if you need any further support.
Ambassador
Appropriate behaviour in and out of the Union when you are volunteering - you are representing QMSU, your project and ultimately the university!
Respect
We expect you to respect and understand the needs and wishes of other volunteers and project co-ordinators. Please support your fellow volunteers to the best of your ability.

Confidentiality
Of information will be adhered to at all times, unless directed otherwise by the Volunteer Co-ordinator. Also, respect the confidentiality of others.
Behaviour
Please adhere to our policies at all times whilst volunteering. Also, act within the policies and regulations of the external placement organisation with whom you volunteer.
Speak Up
If you feel your rights are not being respected.
Risk
Speak up if you see potential danger and never put yourself or others at risk.
Feedback
If you can think of any ways to improve what we do, please tell us.
Up to Date
Keep Provide informed of any changes to your contact details or availability.
